About the Role
Microsoft Advertising is seeking a Senior Social Media Manager to lead brand presence across social platforms. This role involves translating business priorities into organic and paid social programs to drive engagement and brand preference. You will act as the social media subject matter expert, developing channel strategies, content plans, and campaign activations to achieve business goals. The ideal candidate is strategic, hands-on, analytical, and thrives in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute social media strategies aligned with brand, audience, and campaign priorities.
- Translate business, marketing, product, and brand objectives into audience-led social strategies, channel plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Utilize audience insights, social listening, performance data, and industry trends to optimize strategies.
- Build reporting frameworks connecting content and channel performance to business objectives.
- Manage organic and paid social media programs, including editorial planning, content activation, publishing, community engagement, and optimization.
- Create platform-native content and social experiences to increase audience engagement, reach, and advocacy.
- Develop social copy, creative briefs, content recommendations, and multimedia assets.
- Independently create or support short-form video and multimedia content production.
- Partner with product marketing, communications, events, and campaign teams to create impactful social content.
- Lead and coordinate complex, cross-functional marketing initiatives.
- Build trusted relationships and communicate recommendations, insights, and risks to stakeholders.
- Establish metrics, reporting frameworks, and performance reviews to measure business impact.
- Analyze performance data to drive actionable recommendations and continuous improvement.
- Leverage social listening, analytics, publishing, campaign management, and marketing automation tools.
- Apply testing, experimentation, optimization, and performance measurement practices.
- Drive operational excellence through planning, governance, workflow management, and process improvement.
- Manage competing priorities, dependencies, and risks to deliver complex initiatives.
- Utilize AI-enabled marketing workflows, automation, and responsible AI practices.
- Ensure social media activities align with brand standards, accessibility, privacy, legal review, and platform best practices.
- Maintain governance frameworks for global corporate social channels and marketing programs.
- Apply editorial judgment and content review standards to protect brand reputation.
- Embody company culture and values.
Requirements
- 6+ years of work experience at a branding agency or with product marketing, brand building, and/or strategy development, or equivalent experience.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional marketing initiatives in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated success managing stakeholders, competing priorities, and organizational ambiguity.
- Experience developing audience-led social media strategies for global B2B, advertising, media, or technology brands.
- Deep expertise in LinkedIn and strong knowledge of social media platforms, including organic and paid social, community engagement, audience targeting, experimentation, optimization, and emerging channel capabilities.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with experience leveraging audience insights, social listening, channel performance data, analytics, and marketing technology tools.
- Excellent communication, editorial, and content development skills, including copywriting, creative briefing, content strategy, and multimedia content creation.
- Ability to build trusted cross-functional relationships.
- Knowledge of brand governance, accessibility, privacy, legal review processes, and responsible AI-enabled marketing practices.
- Candidates hired in New York will be required to be in office 4 days per week.
