About the Role

This role involves providing advanced clinical care to transplant patients, interpreting health data, making diagnoses, and treating complex patient and family responses. It also includes leadership, quality improvement, administrative responsibilities, policy development, research, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and demonstrate comprehensive theoretical knowledge and advanced clinical competence in caring for transplant patients.
  • Collect and interpret patient health data.
  • Determine medical diagnoses.
  • Treat complex responses of individuals and families to actual or potential health problems.
  • Play a leadership role in quality improvement and administrative responsibilities.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development.
  • Perform research activities.
  • Deliver, coordinate, and participate in education and professional development activities/programs.
  • Act as a resource and consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other hospitals.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Masters Degree Program in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (EC) certification complete or pending.
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult or Primary Care certificate complete or pending.
  • Current Certificate of Competence with College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Three to five years of nursing experience in an acute treatment center.
  • Experience in nursing research methodology.
  • Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution.
  • Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and other relevant organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem recognition, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Program planning and evaluation methodology skills.
  • Commitment to collaborative practice.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner.
  • Ability to utilize information technology.
  • A Criminal Record Check may be required.
  • Must have successfully completed probationary period, have a good employee record, and satisfactory attendance to be eligible for consideration (for current UHN employees).
