About the Role

The Mission Delivery Intern will provide support to the Wish Granting and/or Mission Support teams, assisting children throughout their Wish Journey. This role is crucial for coordinating wish fulfillment, managing referrals, and engaging volunteers, ultimately contributing to the goal of granting wishes to every eligible child.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the process of granting a wish, including transportation, accommodations, services, liability forms, paperwork, letters, and itineraries.
  • Focus on referrals, eligibility, and volunteer engagement, including building relationships with medical partners and processing wish clearances.
  • Manage volunteer files, match volunteers to wish kids, and communicate with families and volunteers.
  • Make phone calls or communicate via email to share updates or gather information from wish families, volunteers, and medical partners.
  • Document all interactions in the Salesforce database and relevant Excel sheets.
  • Accurately update digital records on children and volunteers to ensure compliance with National Standards and Chapter guidelines.
  • Research options for delivering wishes in the most cost-effective and quality manner.
  • Support with mailings and drafting of letters.
  • Provide volunteer engagement and recognition through surveys, newsletters, and other recognition methods.
  • Work on special projects as needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry.
  • Attend and/or assist with special events and community events.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Must satisfy a minimum requirement of 100 hours per semester.
  • Must be comfortable and confident communicating over the phone.
  • Commitment to and a passion for the work of Make-A-Wish.
  • Reliable and professional while completing tasks remotely.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential staff, donor, and volunteer information.
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively and achieve objectives.
  • Solid team player who provides stellar customer service in a professional and pleasant manner.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Oral and written bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including MS Teams.
  • Interpersonal and professional skillset development.
  • Effective multi-tasking.
  • Deep understanding of the non-profit sector.
  • Public speaking/presentation skills for end-of-term presentation.
