About the Role

La Raza Centro Legal is seeking a Workers Rights Managing Attorney to manage the Workers’ Rights Program and its staff, provide legal services to low-income employees, and collaborate with stakeholders. The role involves managing an individual caseload, supervising staff, and assisting with fund development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Workers’ Rights Program and its staff at LRCL.
  • Provide legal advice to low-income employees.
  • Attend mandatory grant administrator meetings.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in community events.
  • Adjust employee grievances within the WRP program.
  • Hire, transfer, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, reward, assign, or discipline employees within the Workers’ Rights program, or recommend such actions.
  • Manage an individual caseload.
  • Maintain regular clinic hours (1x/month).
  • Recruit and supervise a legal assistant, interns, and pro bono attorneys.
  • Assist with fund development and grant renewals.
  • Ensure funding obligations, including contract and reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong commitment to social justice.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Program development experience.
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of immigrants in the media, community forums, and other venues.
  • Good public speaking skills.
  • Ability to engage in strategic planning regarding the direction of legal services work.
  • Admission to the California Bar.
