About the Role
UCSF Health and GoHealth Urgent Care are seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join their team. This role is crucial for providing diagnostic imaging services to patients of all age groups, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and supporting the medical team. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication.
- Provide health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups.
- Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers.
- Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UCSF-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.
- Perform x-ray services as needed under the direction of the clinical provider.
- Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during x-ray use.
- Prepare patients for examination by verifying information, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Perform preliminary physical tests for vital signs and escalate critical cases.
- Conduct point-of-care testing as needed and provide patient information to the provider.
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
- Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up.
- Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment.
- Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets.
- Collaborate with providers to determine optimal procedures for accurate diagnoses.
- Support clinic operations to ensure smooth center functioning.
- Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering questions.
- Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
- Select proper ionizing factors to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X-ray equipment.
- Manage necessary supplies.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles.
- Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures.
- Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Skills
- Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure required.
- Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
