About the Role
The Japan Talent Partner (HR Business Partner) will act as a strategic and operational HR business partner to business stakeholders, focusing on end-to-end local HR management and delivering impactful HR solutions tailored to the Japanese market and business context. This role is accountable for executing all talent strategies, initiatives, and processes within the business organization and manufacturing site in the Japan affiliate.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Japan’s business context and strategic priorities to serve as an active and proactive key HR partner for business and organizational decisions.
- Align local Talent priorities and agendas with business goals and lead the development and implementation of Talent plans/initiatives in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Lead and support organizational change, prioritizing time and resources on impactful HR interventions: fostering cultural consistency, enhancing leadership capabilities, managing changes, developing and retaining critical local talent, and improving employee engagement.
- Partner with Learning and Development Team and local stakeholders to drive and deliver talent review processes, talent development plans, and enable the ongoing growth of UCB Japan’s critical talents.
- Support the staffing of key local positions in partnership with UCB Japan’s Talent Acquisition team and local hiring managers, promoting internal mobility.
- Oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle management covering onboarding, career coaching, performance review, and offboarding.
- Collaborate with the local HR team and HR operations to ensure smooth daily HR delivery and execution.
- Ensure full compliance with Japanese labor laws and regulations.
- Possess a solid understanding of local employment regulations and legislative environments to resolve employee relations issues and mitigate risks in partnership with HR expertise and managers.
- Contribute as a project team member to global and local Talent projects, sharing insights on real business needs and ensuring integration into day-to-day business partnership during implementation.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Talent Partner or HR Business Partner supporting commercial organizations.
- Deep knowledge of Japanese labor laws and HR policies/practices.
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and effectively influence leaders, including senior executives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute HR strategies end-to-end, delivering impactful HR solutions that drive business outcomes.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in a global or multinational environment.
- Internal applicants must have been in their current role for at least 12 months, meet performance evaluation criteria, and not have received formal corrective action or disciplinary measures in the past 12 months.
