About the Role
As a Medical Assistant at Golden State Dermatology, you will partner with providers to guide patients through their treatment, ensuring exceptional service and a welcoming, comfortable, and well-cared-for experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Ensure all treatment rooms are cleaned and stocked at the end of the workday.
- Review patient history, visit reason, medications, and patient understanding of procedures, and make notes in EMA.
- Ensure MIPS information is consistently and accurately completed in the medical record.
- Assist with scheduling of patient's tests and treatments.
- Assist dermatology providers during surgical procedures, such as excisions, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic dermatology procedures.
- Provide support to the front desk by answering phones, scheduling patients, and assisting staff in determining the need for reception assistance once all back-office duties are addressed.
- Clean and perform spore testing on the autoclave, following scheduled maintenance, and keeping accurate records.
- Check the expiration dates on medications and samples, maintaining records of date checks.
- Keep the biopsy book, slides, and pathology reports up to date, and record results in patient charts.
- Process prescription refills in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure authorization for prescriptions as needed.
- Manage the pathology and culture log.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned by the Practice Manager.
- Ensure timely completion of all responsibilities through multitasking and task management.
