About the Role
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, monitoring, and enforcing corporate-wide personnel safety, environmental, health, and regulatory management programs. This position ensures multi-jurisdiction compliance and leads the company to world-class levels of personnel safety and environmental compliance. The role administers, directs, and monitors compliance with the company safety program to ensure safety goals are met. The EHS Engineer consults, directs, and manages all aspects of environmental compliance, including construction activities related to air, water, and solid waste regulation and permitting. They develop, organize, and implement EHS programs that meet or exceed regulatory standards and corporate values.
Responsibilities
- Conducting regular construction site inspections and audits.
- Monitoring contractor and subcontractor compliance.
- Reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Leading incident investigations and corrective action programs.
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness training.
- Monitoring health and safety performance metrics and reporting trends.
- Supporting implementation of EHS management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identifying hazards early and working with project teams to eliminate or mitigate risk before work activities commence.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience as an Environmental Health and Safety professional.
- Minimum of two (4) years of construction experience.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Responsible to carry a cell phone and provide 24 X 7 support.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
Skills
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional and tactful with ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work in a construction environment.
