About the Role
Waldorf Astoria London - Admiralty Arch is seeking a Senior Shift Engineer to join the pre-opening team for this highly anticipated new luxury hotel opening later this year. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced luxury hospitality leader to join the founding team and help shape the guest experience at this landmark hotel.
Responsibilities
- Support the day to day supervision and coordination of the maintenance team
- Assist in the implementation and compliance of all statutory, legal, and company requirements, including fire safety, health & safety, hygiene, electrical compliance, and local regulations
- Collaborate closely with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritise maintenance activities with minimal guest disruption
- Respond to maintenance enquiries swiftly, professionally, and with discretion
- Carry out maintenance repairs to the highest standard, ensuring appropriate PPE is used at all times
- Maintain external areas, including landscaped green spaces and car parks, where applicable
- Follow and support planned preventative maintenance programmes to ensure operational excellence
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers
- Support and implement energy efficiency and conservation initiatives
- Ensure full compliance with C.O.S.H.H. regulations, particularly regarding the safe storage and handling of hazardous substances
- Assist with the ongoing training, development, and performance support of the maintenance team
Requirements
- A consistently positive and professional demeanour
- Clear, confident, and respectful communication skills
- Impeccable personal presentation and grooming standards
- Flexibility and responsiveness across a variety of operational situations
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Proven maintenance experience, including electrical, plumbing, or painting and decorating disciplines
- Relevant technical qualifications or certifications aligned with the role
