About the Role
As Head of Advanced Market and Field Underwriting, you will play a key role in positioning, strengthening, and growing iA’s presence within advanced case and national accounts segments. This position is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and fully realize your potential within a caring and trustworthy company. In this role, you will provide end-to-end leadership on complex files, leveraging deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and field credibility. You will act as a central anchor between underwriting, sales, risk management, and key partners, contributing to promoting iA’s value proposition, enhancing distribution capabilities, and supporting internal talent development.
Responsibilities
- Assume end-to-end accountability for advanced market cases and national accounts, from pre-underwriting through to in-force servicing.
- Develop and position iA’s field underwriting expertise with specialized advisors and distribution partners.
- Provide strong technical leadership in both medical and financial risk assessment.
- Analyze and assess complex sales concepts to ensure alignment with risk appetite, profitability objectives, and client experience.
- Lead and mobilize a multidisciplinary team, including underwriters, case coordinators, and specialized experts.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and training sessions, and actively support talent development and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in advanced market underwriting, including field underwriting and knowledge of individual insurance products.
- Ability to navigate complex environments with credibility, leadership, and a collaborative approach.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify and explain complex underwriting and sales concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering talent development and knowledge transfer.
- Significant experience in underwriting within the advanced market segment, including proven leadership in managing high-impact, cross-functional initiatives.
- Advanced level of English proficiency required for interactions, presentations, and collaboration with partners, distributors, and stakeholders across Canada.
