About the Role
The Dishwasher reports to the Culinary Manager and is responsible for operating dishwashers, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all equipment is clean and operational. This role is crucial for maintaining a hygienic and efficient kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Load, operate, and empty dishwashers, and put dishes away.
- Maintain a clean cooking area, including work surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills, food storage rooms, and exhaust hoods.
- Damp mop floors.
- Clean kitchen equipment such as blenders, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
- Perform all duties with a focus on cleanliness.
- Be aware of and promote Resident Rights & Responsibilities.
- Attend in-service training to better serve resident dietary needs.
- Attend staff meetings to stay informed of changes.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
- Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
- Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy regarding ethics, morality, and integrity.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have empathy for and the ability to get along with the elderly and the handicapped.
- Ability to understand and follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow directions for serving food correctly and attractively according to specified portion control.
- Ability to work accurately and quickly.
- Able to read and write English.
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
