About the Role
Brown and Caldwell (BC) has an exciting opportunity for a Wastewater Area Practice Leader (APL) for the Central Area (Colorado, Utah and Texas). This pivotal position will shape the strategy of the wastewater practice for Colorado, Utah and Texas, setting priorities for business development, hiring, recruitment, and innovation. The Wastewater APL leads complex environmental engineering work involving planning, analysis, and design of solutions for environmental protection, water sustainability, and public health outcomes. This role may lead technical efforts across wastewater treatment and conveyance, solids and energy management, and related practice areas, delivering high quality engineering analyses, designs, and recommendations with significant project impact. The role is designed to be shared with other responsibilities such as Project Manager, Client Service Manager, or Design Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute complex technical analyses and engineering design efforts.
- Prepare, review, and approve advanced technical reports and engineering deliverables.
- Develop and design environmental protection systems and infrastructure for complex projects.
- Lead development of facility, watershed, or strategic resource management plans.
- Ensure technical quality, regulatory compliance, and integration of multidisciplinary inputs.
- Provide technical leadership during permitting, regulatory coordination, and vendor engagement.
- Adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Requirements
- Typically, a minimum of 10 years of related work experience in Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Typically will become certified in BC's Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Framework and progress through the SMS competencies.
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field is required.
- PE (Professional Engineer) license in Colorado, Utah and/or Texas is preferred.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field
- Master's degree in related engineering field with a focus on wastewater (preferred)
Salary/Compensations
- Location A: $117,000 - $159,000
- Location B: $128,000 - $175,000
- Location C: $140,000 - $191,000
