About the Role
Join Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care as an Assistant Director of Resident Care to help shape the culture, resident experience, and care environment of our newest long-term care home, the Ng Siu Chan Centre. This role is crucial in developing and implementing high-quality nursing care services that align with government standards and the organization's vision.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Director of Resident Care in implementing high quality nursing services.
- Hires appropriate staff, and coaches, develops, monitors, and evaluates the team.
- Ensures compliance with staff scheduling policies and procedures.
- Oversees resident care of assigned units, including monitoring, communication with residents and families, and prompt intervention.
- Assesses training needs and coordinates staff development programs.
- Provides leadership and coordinates/implements RAI-MDS, CQI, Infection Prevention & Control, Restorative programs, and Health and Safety programs.
- Reviews policies and procedures related to nursing, resident care, and health and safety, recommending changes as necessary.
- Coordinates and ensures accurate documentation and information on digital systems.
- Coordinates special programs or projects as assigned.
- Implements effective risk management and quality improvement programs.
- Acts as back-up to the (Assistant) Director of Resident Care in their absence.
- Stays up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4 years of nursing experience, including Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, and Long Term Care Nursing.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting, preferably in long term care.
- Current CPR Certificate.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Ability to be flexible, agile, and a change leader in a demanding environment.
- Ability to build, manage, and coach an effective, engaged, and high-functioning team.
- Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Superb customer service skills.
- Computer literacy required.
- Experience with preparing and monitoring financial budgets.
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen result.
- Ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset.
- Successful applicants must provide a recent satisfactory vulnerable sector police reference check and medical clearance certificate.
