About the Role
The Department of Biology at William & Mary seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Microbiology, focusing on microbial applications to biotechnology and/or biomedical sciences. The role involves research, teaching, and service, with an expectation to establish an externally funded research program involving students in a BSL-2 environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and establish a vibrant, externally funded research program.
- Teach a sophomore-level microbiology course with laboratories and an advanced course in the candidate's expertise.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- Maintain research activities within BSL-2 laboratory environments.
- Provide service to the University.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in microbiology or a related field by August 10, 2027.
- Completion of 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Skills to teach compelling microbiology courses and other lecture/seminar-style courses.
- Ability to develop a vibrant, externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.
- Ability to conduct research within BSL-2 laboratory environments.
