About the Role
As a Head of Parametric Weather Insurance – UK & Europe, you will be an expert in parametric risk transfer products, focusing on non-catastrophic parametric weather insurance structures. This role involves leading go-to-market activities, driving commercial development, and fostering strategic partnerships in Europe to promote innovative risk transfer solutions. You will focus on client acquisition, relationship management, market intelligence, and developing tailored solutions for emerging risks within a rapidly growing field.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and distribution channels, focusing on London and European Insurance markets to enhance deal origination.
- Lead market growth for parametric insurance products across Europe, targeting industries including agriculture, energy, retail, and public sector clients.
- Understand client needs, develop targets, identify risks, and create parametric solutions.
- Educate clients on the pros and cons of parametric products and solutions, with a focus on weather and forced outage risks.
- Originate, analyze, and assess parametric climate insurance submissions.
- Manage submissions and coordinate with internal teams for timely processing.
- Drive global business expansion by gaining access to insurance companies and brokers.
- Support global parametric team members with client-focused marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize technology platforms and workflows, assist with new product development, and engage in strategic roadmap development.
Requirements
- Expert in parametric risk transfer products with a focus on non-catastrophic parametric weather insurance structures.
- Proven experience in driving commercial development and strategic partnerships.
- Bachelor’s degree in math/science, finance, insurance or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- At least 5 years of experience, preferably in the re/insurance industry as a broker or underwriter.
- Experience with parametric solutions or a closely related field, with a technical background.
- Demonstrable track record in the insurance industry and an extensive network of contacts in the broker community.
- Passionate and experienced in climate-related risks and the insurance market.
- Proven tenacity and perseverance in navigating stakeholders to overcome challenges in the deal lifecycle.
- Proven ability to successfully bring transactions to completion.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a complex corporate environment.
- Ability to analyze market trends, regulations, and competitor activities to inform commercial strategy.
- Client-centric empathy and drive to improve understanding of weather and natural disaster risk.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn and apply new solutions.
- Ability to face and troubleshoot difficult and complex problems.
