About the Role
This position leads Information Security staff in evaluating risks and threats, and in developing, implementing, communicating, operating, monitoring, and maintaining IT security policies and procedures to ensure the secure and uninterrupted operation of all IT systems, applications, and infrastructure. The role involves proactively identifying, prioritizing, and tracking security vulnerabilities across PSEG’s network and systems, conducting security assessments, running penetration tests, reviewing Cyber threat intelligence, and providing actionable data. It also includes performing red team exercises to emulate adversary practices and leveraging similar tools and techniques. Success requires a broad understanding of information security, experience in application security, DevSecOps, vulnerability management, and cyber exploitation techniques in an AI-driven world, along with strong problem-solving, communication, and people management skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall lifecycle of the Cyber Assessment & Vulnerability Management program.
- Inform, advise, and partner with IT, Security, and other business units to enhance security.
- Identify gaps in current processes, workflows, and design, recommending changes or enhancements.
- Participate in the Change Management Process, including assessment, vulnerability scanning, and remediation recommendations.
- Participate in incident response activities and ensure adherence to threat & vulnerability management processes.
- Track SLAs, discovery, and handling of findings.
- Maintain situational awareness of industry news related to software vulnerabilities, zero-days, and emergency patching.
- Implement and operationalize advanced Vulnerability Management reporting tools, metrics, and dashboards.
- Evaluate performance, manage career development, coaching, counseling, and compensation for Cyber assessment staff.
- Conduct security assessments and penetration tests.
- Review Cyber threat intelligence and provide relevant data for action within the Cyber Assessment & Vulnerability management teams.
- Oversee regular red team exercises to emulate attackers' TTPs and report findings for defense improvement.
- Create and perform tabletop exercises to test PSEG LI’s ability to respond to cyber incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant cyber security experience, or 12 years of cyber experience without a degree.
- Experience in vulnerability/compliance management, penetration testing, and/or threat hunting.
- Ability to present to all levels of management and executive leadership.
- Excellent teamwork, facilitation, relationship building, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships both leading and as part of a team.
- Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
- Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
