About the Role
As a Marsh Human Resources Manager, you will coach, support, and advise People Managers to enhance people management throughout the colleague lifecycle. This role also involves project work to support business success, offering an opportunity to collaborate with People Managers, Business leaders, HR Centers of Excellence (CoE), and the People Function team across the US and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Support HR Managers across the US and Canada in supporting their client teams.
- Provide cover for HR Managers across the US and Canada, potentially managing a dedicated client portfolio.
- Coordinate and deliver HR programs, contributing to process improvements.
- Guide People Managers on performance management, colleague development, employee relations, succession planning, absence/leave management, change management, organizational effectiveness, compensation, benefits, and total rewards, including the year-end process.
- Support employee relations matters, including investigations, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, and appeals, engaging with the Employee Relations CoE for complex issues.
- Build strong relationships with functional teams (Tax, Finance, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition) to align people and business strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations, including reporting requirements.
- Consult with People Partners and Centers of Excellence to identify best practices, improve delivery methods, and guide local implementation considering country-specific nuances.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant HR experience with suitable qualifications.
- Experience supporting colleagues and leaders in both the US and Canada.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact.
- Experience supporting managers with employee relations case management, including investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach managers through all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including complex situations.
- Experience successfully supporting project/initiative implementation across a population of managers, recognizing broader business objectives.
- Thorough understanding of US and Canadian laws and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with colleagues in the business and wider HR community.
- Advanced technical skills in MS Office Suite and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
