About the Role
The Placement Transporter is primarily responsible for the safe and timely transportation of animals from ACC to our New Hope partners throughout New York State and the surrounding areas. This position requires a vaid driver's license and the ability to drive a large van. When not conducting transports, the Placement Transporter will support other placement functions including adoption efforts and assisting New Hope staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that animals are provided with a comfortable, safe transport between locations, in a clean, secure vehicle and always adhering to best practices for companion animal transports.
- Box up and Load/unload animals while using fear free techniques.
- Complete daily transports for all animals placed within ACC’s transport range.
- Communicate with the receiver, ensure that all paperwork and medication arrives with the animals, and communicate any issues that may arise on the trip back to ACC.
- Map out the most optimal routes for each daily trip to maximize efficiency.
- Complete emergency local transports on an as need and as available basis.
- Oversee routine maintenance of the transport van, which may include bringing the van to and from scheduled appointments.
- Clean out the van’s kennels at the completion of your shift.
- Attend mobile events on the weekend and drive the Mobile Adoptions Center.
- Support overall placement efforts in shelter adoptions and assisting the New Hope department as needed.
- Act as an ambassador for the organization in the community.
- Respond to email and phone calls communicating effectively with the New Hope staff, Field staff, as well as various supervisors throughout the day.
- Keep an organized route sheet throughout the day.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- A valid driver’s license in good standing that has been held for at least one year.
- Treat animals and people with respect and employ humane handling techniques whenever possible.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Fear Free certification required within 30 days of hire.
