About the Role

The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services. This position is a critical link between supplier quality, incoming inspection, and production activities, investigating, analyzing, and resolving supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement plans. The role represents Supplier Quality on product development teams and in external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Support the non-conforming material system and review processes, including Material Review Board (MRB) activities and ensuring proper dispositioning of suspect nonconforming product.
  • Assign responsibility and ensure Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) are effectively addressed and closed.
  • Utilize data-driven problem-solving methods to improve key quality metrics such as First Pass Yield.
  • Work with Sourcing/Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive compliance, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, communicate, and improve key supply chain KPIs, including supplier first pass yield and supplier-related complaints.
  • Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of procedures, work instructions, and forms for supplier approval and maintenance.
  • Participate in design reviews for product and/or components, ensuring early supplier involvement.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Candidates must be based near Rush, NY.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of production Supplier Quality Engineering experience.
  • 6-10 years combined Manufacturing/Quality Engineering and/or Quality Systems experience.
  • 6-10 years of experience working in an ISO certified environment required.
  • 2-3 years of experience with medical device or other regulated industries.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with suppliers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Focus on identification of potential issues and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams and on own initiative.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Must have PC experience, as well as working familiarity of desktop applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and Visio preferred.
  • People managing experience preferred.
