About the Role

The Category Manager leads and oversees the development of category strategies and related implementation processes and procedures to maximize business opportunities, focusing on multiple indirect spend categories. This role involves working with business partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment around goals, strategies, and execution, and to develop and optimize sources of supply.

Responsibilities

  • Owns assigned categories, including stakeholder management, negotiation development and execution, in-depth market knowledge research, supplier relationships/management, and drives continuous improvement.
  • Utilizes category expertise to jointly develop category strategies in partnership with business stakeholders, ensuring alignment with all levels of business partners.
  • Leads process standardization and process improvement initiatives to ensure business requirements are achieved.
  • Develops and implements effective supplier performance management initiatives.
  • Develops and achieves YOY goals and objectives for assigned projects and categories.
  • Collaborates with department team members and supports operations to achieve their goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Finance, and/or Master’s in Business Administration.
  • Proficiency with eProcurement systems and MS Office, including advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supply chain, procurement experience or related experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with customers and stakeholders to build strong internal and external relationships while maintaining a high sense of urgency and customer focus.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on details, cost drivers, and total cost of ownership.
  • Ability to develop sourcing strategies and influence executive management.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects or tasks with varying and competing timelines.
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data.
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer.
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment.
  • Employment with RPM Living is contingent upon successful completion of a background check as local and federal state requires.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred.
