About the Role
Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing is a rapidly growing manufacturer of high-performance carbide cutting tools serving various industries. This role is crucial for preparing orders for shipment, processing shipments according to company policies, and coordinating imports/exports.
Responsibilities
- Prepare orders for freight, express, or parcel post shipments.
- Process shipments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Create associated paperwork, including Bills of Lading and packing lists.
- Coordinate imports/exports, including preparing receipts, tracking shipments, and updating shipping schedules.
- Assist in the assembly and labeling of packages.
- Prepare packing slips for all outbound customers.
- Accurately package and label outgoing orders, verifying quantity, type, size, and part numbers.
- Provide basic support within production areas and perform other assigned duties.
- Accurately enter transactions into the computer system, maintain records, and prepare receiving and shipping documents.
- Restock consumable items and maintain housekeeping in production areas.
- Verify accuracy of incoming products and receive materials by checking against purchase orders or receiving slips.
- Inspect and put away incoming products and supplies.
- Issue and deliver materials to the shop floor promptly.
- Address shipping and receiving questions with internal staff and customers.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain and promote an optimistic, positive, and growth-oriented approach.
- Load trucks.
- Make shipping reports.
- Cross-train and back up co-workers as required.
Requirements
- Experience creating Bills of Lading and packing lists.
- Ability to work in a team environment and train others.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivating.
- Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly and stand for 100% of the shift.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong basic math skills for calculations and document interpretation.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing production needs.
- Positive attitude.
- Employees will need to be able to work while standing, sitting, bending, and climbing.
- Employees will be doing regular lifting.
Skills
- UPS Worldship experience preferred.
- MS Excel skills preferred.
- Knowledge of machine shop environment and operations preferred.
