About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is a power user of AI-assisted development. You will work across their Voice, Messaging, and Platform Services stack, setting the standard for how the engineering organization adopts AI-native workflows. This role focuses on raising team velocity and quality through smart tooling and shipping features.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship features across Voice, Messaging, and Platform Services systems.
- Use AI coding assistants as a core part of your daily workflow and help teammates build fluency.
- Evaluate, pilot, and recommend AI development tools and workflows for the broader engineering team.
- Design, build, and run AI agents to automate engineering and operational work.
- Partner with the team to integrate AI-assisted development into CI/CD, code review, and QA.
- Support production systems handling real-time voice and messaging traffic, including a weekly on-call rotation.
- Collaborate directly with product management on technical scoping, estimation, and tradeoffs.
- Write clear technical documentation, including for internal tooling and AI-assisted workflows.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally including backend/API work, telecom/CPaaS, or high-reliability distributed systems.
- Deep, hands-on daily fluency with AI coding tools, including specific workflows and prompting techniques.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, system design, testing, and security.
- Practical experience building and operating AI agents using frameworks or APIs.
- Experience with a modern backend language/framework (Node.js, Python, Go, or Java) and RESTful API design.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Able to be in the Raleigh, NC office Wednesdays and Thursdays each week.
