About the Role
The Field Engineer will work within the Operations department, supporting the design, build, and installation of new highways projects, as well as completing maintenance tasks on existing projects. The role requires gaining strong technical knowledge of the Jenoptik product range and maintaining a customer focus.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, configuration, and installation of new projects under the guidance of the Field Operations Manager.
- Provide pre-technical support to sales, including site surveys, solution design, customer meetings, job costing, and negotiations.
- Complete equipment installation on site or supervise subcontractors.
- Undertake field service tasks and maintenance activities such as calibrations and annual maintenance.
- Ensure faults are resolved within the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) and customers are updated.
- Register assets on the system and report their status correctly.
- Record faults accurately against assets.
- Complete work orders within the agreed target SLA and submit Field Service Reports (FSRs).
- Assist Account Management in maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and the Quality Management System (QEMS).
- Supervise third-party contractors on-site.
- Manage the return of faulty equipment for service.
- Liaise with product engineering to provide feedback on faults, enhancements, and design concerns.
- Action work tasks via the service management tool.
- Record working time in the timesheet system.
- Document site surveys.
- Produce and review technical specifications.
- Produce calibration certificates and site-specific data files.
Requirements
- Candidates will be required to successfully obtain security clearance.
- Successful security clearance and vetting is mandatory for this role.

- Some experience of camera-based Speed enforcement solutions and ANPR technologies [Desirable].
- Sound understanding of TCP/IP networking technologies including 3G/4G, wireless, routing, and fibre optics [Desirable].
- IT literate with knowledge of PC configuration and communications [Desirable].
- Experience of a range of Windows OS and Linux [Desirable].
- Good understanding of Construction design management (CDM) [Desirable].
- A good working knowledge within the Highways environment [Desirable].
