About the Role
Internal Audit (IA) supports assurance projects and assesses the effectiveness of internal controls for credit within Commercial Markets and Group Risk Management platforms. This role offers exposure to RBC products, services, businesses, and platforms, aiming to develop subject matter expertise in credit risk disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the execution of audits in the annual plan and formally document tasks performed with supporting evidence, adhering to Internal Audit methodology and guidelines.
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes to draw conclusions and complete audit programs.
- Develop and draft Detailed Issues Memos and recommendations based on audit program conclusions for the Senior Manager.
- Identify key risks and potential business impacts.
- Collaborate with the Data Analytics Lead or Data Scientist to find opportunities for advanced analytics in audit projects.
- Respond to stakeholder needs promptly and effectively.
- Build trusting relationships with Internal Audit peers and business partners.
- Adapt to a dynamically changing environment.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in Internal Audit, Risk Management, or a compliance function within a financial institution.
- Strong foundation in credit risk management acquired through education and/or professional work experience.
- Good understanding of business processes and associated risk and control concepts for wholesale credit products and services.
- Good understanding of risk and control concepts, with the ability to evaluate the materiality and significance of deviations, as well as the strength of management practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Strong interest in further developing and integrating audits with technology.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
