About the Role
The Lead Cashier is responsible for efficient guest transactions, maintaining cashwrap standards, and assisting in training new cashiers. This role drives loyalty results through a focus on performance, people, and process, supporting the leadership team with various operational tasks.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals for sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and shrink.
- Ensure exceptional guest service by creating a friendly environment, greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
- Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
- Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and guest experience.
- Book appointments for and support the execution of services and in-store events.
- Take ownership over the replenishment, organization, and maintenance of all cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates and guests.
- Support the leadership team by completing cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and share benefits with guests.
- Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests and lead associates to do the same.
- Assist in the training of new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering.
- Engage and influence peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Drive cashier accountability in delivering an exceptional, personalized Ulta Beauty brand experience.
- Regularly participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
- Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
- Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s dress code.
- Ensure the completion of all transactions and proper control of cash and media at the cashwrap.
- Complete register open and close functions as directed.
- Maintain outstanding store standards and overall store cleanliness.
- Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred.
- 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
- Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
- Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and a competency for selling.
- Experience addressing guest concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
- Demonstrated experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
- Must be 18 years of age.
Skills
- Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible/adaptable.
