About the Role
Ensure a warehouse culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagements with warehouse leaders and associates, best-in-class service to customers, and safe and profitable operations. Develop warehouse managers and ensure the safe, accurate, and timely receiving and storage of all inbound product or selection and loading of all outbound product, while maintaining the safety and security of the entire facility.
Responsibilities
- Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets in the warehouse.
- Lead with a safety mindset to ensure associates remain injury-free.
- Champion safety procedures, processes, and training to create a safety-first culture.
- Oversee and develop Warehouse Managers through coaching, training, and problem resolution.
- Oversee and develop all warehouse associates by discussing performance and creating plans to address gaps.
- Drive associate engagement and retention, and create a culture embodying US Foods values.
- Keep lines of communication open and direct the workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
- Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements and monitoring hiring.
- Review performance, coach to achieve productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
- Develop production flow processes and identify process improvement and cost reduction strategies.
- Establish and maintain operational procedures for shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, and loading.
- Identify and stop waste, and improve processes for safety and efficiency.
- Approve operation plans for daily loads and ensure trucks are completed within timelines.
- Ensure load plans meet weight restrictions and accommodate special customer requests.
- Monitor operational data, including inventory losses, production goals, and safety reports.
- Identify problems, determine causes, and recommend changes to produce zero-error benchmarks.
- Monitor and ensure product integrity and food safety standards.
- Oversee the maintenance of the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment per OSHA requirements.
- Assist HR and VP Operations in interpreting collective bargaining agreements, administering discipline, settling grievances, and participating in arbitrations in union facilities.
- Perform other duties assigned by manager.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience in warehouse supervision required.
- Experience leading hourly high volume distribution teams and supervisors/managers.
- Must have experience in leading union employee teams.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to perform standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, stooping/squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulder, twisting, grasping, manipulating objects, and manual dexterity as described in the physical qualifications section.
Skills
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
- Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments.
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control systems is a plus.
- HACCP certification is a plus.
- PCQI certification is a plus.
