About the Role
Parsons is seeking a seasoned Area Manager - Highway Lead to grow our business in Eastern and Northern Ontario. This leadership role involves managing highways business, including conventional and design/build projects for MTO or other highway programs. The candidate will build a dedicated team, manage design projects, and assist in pursuing new projects, leveraging a strong existing relationship with MTO.
Responsibilities
- Hiring, growing, coaching, and providing leadership for staff, including Senior Engineers with extensive Project Management experience on MTO projects.
- Leading the design of multi-million-dollar highway infrastructure projects.
- Developing and executing the business plan for roads and highways.
- Overseeing, managing, and building the highway engineering team and portfolio of clients.
- Performing as a versatile Program/Project Manager with exceptional communication, analytical, and management skills.
- Leading and overseeing the preparation of technical reports and documentation for clients and project management.
- Promoting technical excellence and quality assurance of project tasks and deliverables.
- Providing effective and efficient management of day-to-day operations, including scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work.
- Maintaining awareness of trends, developments, and advancements in relevant fields and the broader industry.
- Acting as the representative with clients and selected subcontractors during project execution.
- Collaborating with Business Development to market and secure additional work with provincial and regional clients.
- Assisting in business development activities and undertaking leadership roles in proposal preparation, including methodology, work programs, schedules, and budgets.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant technical experience, including 10 years of successful technical leadership and project management experience.
- Required experience with MTO.
- Strong business development and client relationship management skills within Ontario’s transportation market.
- Demonstrated strong abilities and experience in developing, training, mentoring, motivating, leading, and supervising a team of highly qualified professional staff.
- Applied knowledge of published standards and guidelines from provincial governments and associations, as well as industry regulations.
- Excellent understanding of relevant highway engineering issues and stakeholders’ requirements.
- Proficient in the application of specialized engineering and assessments software.
- Thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on high-profile transportation infrastructure projects.
