About the Role

PURE is implementing Sapiens Decision for its underwriting business rules and seeks a Business Rules Manager to represent business users in rule development, from logic drafting to performance analysis. This role involves strategic thinking about rule interactions and granular focus on rule clarity for end-users, aiming to evolve the platform into a decision support tool.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Sapiens Decision business rules platform on behalf of the business, ensuring successful rollout, adoption, and ongoing use.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, product, and business subject matter experts to draft rules with clear and consistent language.
  • Strategize on rule logic, timing, and form, and understand interdependencies across different states and lines of business.
  • Define the roadmap for rule set development, balancing immediate needs with long-term platform potential.
  • Partner with the Analytics team to monitor rule performance, diagnose issues, and quantify impact.
  • Manage the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process for new and modified rules.
  • Serve as the primary business liaison to IT for design, build, and release phases.
  • Build relationships with underwriters to gather feedback and inform rule design.
  • Manage a portfolio of concurrent rule initiatives, including intake, prioritization, and deadlines.
  • Identify and develop new use cases for the platform across various departments.
  • Establish and maintain standards for rule authoring, naming, and governance.
  • Provide stakeholders with actionable reporting on rule performance and insights.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in P&C insurance underwriting, underwriting operations, product, or a closely related function.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about the underwriting process and portfolio, and to focus on the details of individual rule construction and behavior.
  • Incredible attention to detail; rule language must be precise, consistent, and correct.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; articulate, thoughtful, and clear writing.
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills; comfortable managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset with comfort working with data and analytics partners.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and experience working effectively across IT, analytics, and business stakeholders.
  • Genuine ownership mentality and accountability for platform success.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.

Skills

  • Business rules management platform experience (Sapiens Decision, IBM ODM, FICO Blaze, Pega, or similar) is a plus.
