About the Role

As an Instructional Aide 1:1, you will play a vital role in shaping the success of assigned students in Grades K-12 by providing direct, individualized support, supervision, and guidance in the classroom and community. You will collaborate with educators to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and tailor instruction to unique learning needs, empowering students to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive, welcoming, and high-achieving learning environment.
  • Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on-site and in community settings.
  • Instruct and monitor students during lessons, ensuring instructional fidelity and applying targeted strategies.
  • Track student progress against timelines and communicate successes and intervention needs to teachers.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, reinforcing school philosophy and policies, and applying disciplinary measures.
  • Support students facing academic challenges, encouraging personal growth, and assisting with skill development.
  • Complete clear, accurate, and timely documentation of student behaviors and performance.
  • Assist with the preparation of behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and other documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding student needs and concerns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student records and information.
  • Participate in assurance and accreditation activities to achieve site performance standards.
  • Participate in school-wide, student-parent, and advisory meetings.
  • Respond positively to feedback, demonstrating continuous professional growth.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support student success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of a basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Currently licensed or in the process of obtaining an IL state paraprofessional license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company-approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience providing instruction, guidance, or support to children, preferably in an alternative, special education, or behavioral health program setting.
  • Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and/or other related disabilities.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, including instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
