About the Role
As an Assistant Buyer on the menswear team, you will support product development across all knitwear categories. You will contribute to driving sales and profitability by supporting the development of a strong, customer-focused assortment aligned with COS aesthetics. Working closely with Buying, Design, Pattern, Production, Material, and Supply Chain teams, you will help secure orders that meet brand and customer requirements across time, price, quality, and quantity, supporting meaningful growth within the department.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze the department's product, assortment, quantity, and selling, considering actions according to business needs and presenting sales figures.
- Support maximizing the department's sales and profitability by maintaining timelines both before and after order replacement.
- Monitor and react to how the department's customers are affected by trends and their surroundings.
- Drive the day-to-day organization within your team.
- Manage the post flow to and from recipients.
- Conduct regular analysis of competitors and provide insights to your team, ensuring great value for customers.
- Communicate with the production office regarding product development, follow up on order placements, and meet deadlines.
- Support driving product development from start to end in collaboration with the buyer and in line with department margin targets.
- Prepare and assist fittings, organize agendas, and provide samples at the right place, time, and quantity.
- Handle samples, oversee and maintain the sample wardrobe, ensuring all samples are kept neat and tidy.
- Raise orders and order updates.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer within menswear (knitwear experience desirable).
- Strong product development knowledge, with experience partnering closely with in-house Design and cross-functional teams.
- Commercially minded with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Comprehensive understanding of market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs, with a passion for contemporary fashion and design.
- Ability to produce high-quality, accurate work, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience under pressure.
- Ability to analyze issues logically, use data and evidence to guide decisions, and anticipate and address issues before they arise.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally, explaining technical or complex points simply and keeping stakeholders informed and updated.
- Ability to work constructively with other colleagues, share knowledge, and support teammates.
- Openmindedness and ability to accept feedback professionally.
