About the Role
This 18-week pre-apprenticeship program provides participants with basic technical and job-readiness skills to prepare them for an apprenticeship in automotive mechanics. The program includes academic training, paid on-the-job experience, and job readiness support. All necessary equipment and uniforms are provided.
Responsibilities
- Observe and assist in the repair and overhaul of various mechanical equipment.
- Observe and assist in the maintenance, removal, repair, overhaul, installation, and tuning of engines.
- Observe and assist in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, adjustment, installation, and calibration of automotive, diesel, hybrid, and alternative fuel vehicle fuel systems.
- Observe and assist in the maintenance and installation of lighting circuits and auxiliary actuating circuits.
- Observe and assist in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and adjustment of vehicle brake systems, cooling systems, chassis, and suspension systems.
- Observe and assist in the operation of shop equipment and machine tools.
- Observe and assist in troubleshooting equipment problems.
- Observe and assist on road calls.
- Observe and assist in completing paper and electronic forms detailing work performed, time, and parts used.

- Must be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
