About the Role
This internship program provides an opportunity to apply economic concepts in a professional services setting, improve research and data analysis skills, and learn task management and prioritization. Interns will collaborate with experts in financial economics, corporate finance, energy, competition, and regulatory economics.
Responsibilities
- Build quantitative models and create data-based solutions using programming languages such as Excel, R, Python, GAMS, Stata, and VBA.
- Conduct quantitative analysis, including data and statistical analysis and econometric analysis.
- Build interactive dashboards.
- Conduct comprehensive energy analysis, including market analysis, literature reviews, and document examination.
- Write memos to provide insights and support expert reports.
- Contribute to client deliverables, including presentations and memos, with figures, quantitative results, and novel findings.
- Assist in preparing expert reports and presentations for legal and regulatory contexts.
- Collaborate with colleagues at all levels to develop robust and innovative solutions.
- Analyze electricity, natural gas, and other energy markets.
- Apply market analysis in financial, legal, and policy settings.
- Build financial, economic, statistical, and operational models.
- Coauthor publications and participate in presentation teams.
- Communicate research and analyses to project team members and clients.
- Develop, maintain, and run power system models, including capacity expansion and security-constrained production cost models.
- Provide in-depth regulatory and policy research and summarize insights.
- Critically evaluate analysis results and discuss findings with the internal team.
Requirements
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, computer science, data science, mathematics) with strong academic performance.
- GPA of 3.7 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale).
- Great teamwork and leadership skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity.
- A high degree of ownership and commitment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Completed or will complete a course with a climate or energy focus.
