About the Role
The American Heart Association's Internship Program offers college students hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit, voluntary health organization. This internship supports impactful campaigns like Go Red For Women and Cycle Nation, contributing to planning, execution, and follow-up of life-saving initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the Austin Texas market.
- Support fundraising campaigns (Go Red for Women, Cycle Nation, Heart Ball, Red Hot Summer Night, Impact Campaigns) by working with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership.
- Provide assistance with pre-campaign planning, day-of event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
- Execute external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and third-party vendors.
- Utilize event support systems like Luminate and Tableau for data entry and report generation.
- Develop and update marketing materials for campaigns, including save-the-dates, invitations, social media posts, and volunteer rosters.
- Assist with volunteer management, including preparation for and attendance at externally facing meetings (in-person and virtual).
- Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
- Support the development and implementation of a strategy to increase market volunteerism.
Requirements
- Candidates must be seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, nonprofit management, marketing, event planning, or public relations.
- Must be comfortable with vendor outreach via phone calls and emails to vendors and donors.
- Must have experience or interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
- Must have experience with event planning for a non-profit or for-profit organization.
- Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications.
- Comfortable working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
- Proficient in Canva, including using templates and creating social media graphics.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
- Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
- For remote roles, work must be performed inside the United States.
