About the Role
UCP Long Island is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to advancing the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager for this fully in-person position to oversee all purchasing activities for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develops procedures and policies for office services, including document processing, retention, office equipment, and purchasing for various departments.
- Evaluates and recommends changes to service offerings and equipment to manage costs and achieve efficiencies.
- Manages suppliers to ensure optimal pricing for products and services.
- Directs and develops staff to meet business requirements by planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.
- Manages office staff by coaching, training, and disciplining employees.
- Maintains office services by organizing operations, approving payroll and time-off requests, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing supply requisitions, and assigning clerical functions.
- Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing reports, summarizing information, and identifying trends.
- Performs bidding in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
- Follows up with designees regarding contract terms and specifications.
- Reviews all Purchase Orders (POs) for accuracy.
- Approves POs under $1,000 with full accountability.
- Places orders after POs are approved.
- Enters POs into accounting software.
- Achieves financial objectives by assisting with annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
- Maintains and updates a list of contracts.
- Participates in agency committees as assigned.
- Assists with staffing and coverage for receptionists.
Requirements
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
