About the Role
The Claude Platform (API) is how developers and enterprises build with Claude. We are seeking a senior Finance & Strategy leader to own the financial strategy for the Claude Platform, designing business models for pricing, packaging, and monetization. You will work closely with product, engineering, and go-to-market leaders, influencing product decisions with financial insights and recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Own financial strategy for the Claude Platform (API), including pricing, packaging, discounting, and commercial terms across self-serve, enterprise, and cloud partner channels.
- Design and launch new business models for the platform and new products, such as capacity commitments, service tiers, and usage- or outcome-based pricing.
- Set pricing for new product features on the platform, balancing adoption, capacity, and margin.
- Partner with infrastructure and inference teams to understand cost to serve and translate efficiency gains and capacity constraints into pricing and product decisions.
- Collaborate with product leaders on roadmap priorities, launch sequencing, and business cases, integrating financial perspectives.
- Present recommendations on pricing, investments, and tradeoffs to executive leadership with supporting analysis.
- Define metrics to track pricing and new business model performance, establishing dashboards and review processes.
- Coordinate with FP&A, accounting, deal desk, and revenue operations to ensure accurate forecasting, billing, and reporting of pricing changes.
- Mentor members of the Product Finance team and guide the team's analysis and communication of pricing decisions.
Requirements
- Experience in strategic finance, product finance, or a closely related field, with ownership of pricing or business model decisions.
- Hands-on experience with consumption-based or usage-based business models, including pricing, packaging, and forecasting.
- Experience with infrastructure, cloud, or developer platform businesses, with an understanding of how compute costs and capacity impact unit economics.
- A track record of designing and launching new pricing or business models.
- Experience partnering closely with product teams and translating financial analysis into product and roadmap decisions.
- Advanced financial modeling skills in spreadsheets.
- Comfort pulling and analyzing data in SQL.
- Experience building business cases for major decisions and presenting recommendations to executive leadership.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including explaining financial tradeoffs to diverse audiences.
- Sound judgment when data is incomplete, with comfort making decisions and revisiting them.
- Interest in AI and a commitment to Anthropic's mission of building safe, beneficial AI systems.
