About the Role
Provide individualized assessment of behavioral, developmental, and skill-building support and interventions to children, adolescents, and/or adults with OPWDD eligibility in their homes or community settings. Promote an environment consistent with MHA’s Cultural Equity Policy and WELCOME Orange.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct crisis assessment and intervention services in homes and community settings.
- Support the development of emotional regulation and coping skills.
- Utilize evidence-informed behavioral strategies to encourage adaptive behaviors and skill development.
- Assist individuals in developing daily living and independence skills.
- Support development of functional communication skills.
- Implement proactive strategies to address behaviors that may present safety concerns.
- Identify antecedents, triggers, and environmental factors contributing to challenging behaviors.
- Model behavioral and skill-building strategies for parents/caregivers.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other providers.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services and interventions.
- Facilitate support groups for families and the community.
- Maintain a flexible schedule including daytime, evenings, and weekend hours.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with children or families with intellectual/developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges, or other developmental needs.
- Demonstrated experience in providing behavioral assessment and supports such as reinforcement strategies, emotional regulation, skill development, and behavior prevention and intervention techniques.
- Ability to recognize behavioral triggers, implement individualized strategies, and respond appropriately to challenging or unsafe behaviors.
- Effective planning, organization, documentation, and time management skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment under crisis situations and abide by regulations of confidentiality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary service providers.

Experience Level

Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social work, Counseling, Human Services, Special Education, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Behavioral Sciences or related field required.
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social work, Counseling, Human Services, Special Education, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Behavioral Sciences or related field, preferred.
- Licenses in Social work or Mental health counseling preferred.
- Certifications in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and Special Education preferred.
Salary/Compensations
- $100/hour for Crisis Assessment and Intervention, Education/Training Presentations and Support Group Facilitation
- $50/hour for Documentation and Report Preparation
