About the Role

Altum Health is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to support clinicians and clinical services. The role involves ensuring a safe and stocked clinical environment, supervising client treatments, communicating patient progress, and utilizing modalities as prescribed. Administrative support includes data tracking, scheduling, supply management, and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all clinical areas are safe, clean, maintained and stocked with appropriate supplies at all times
  • Supervising clients during their treatment activities under therapist supervision and ensuring clients perform prescribed activities in an appropriate and safe manner
  • Maintaining communication with supervising therapist regarding patient progress
  • Using modalities as prescribed by the physiotherapist/occupational therapist
  • Maintaining accurate and timely data regarding tracking of clinical visits, maintaining therapist schedules, facilitating supply and small equipment purchases, performing data entry to capture clinical visits and activities, and other support activities
  • Performing cross-functional and/or other administrative duties as needed which will ensure that the program functions efficiently daily

Requirements

  • Ability to solve problems and seek guidance of supervising staff when appropriate
  • Ability to communicate and deal effectively with difficult conversations and situations
  • Ability to function within an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to function in a stressful environment while maintaining professional demeanor
  • Possesses appropriate and effective written, oral and non-verbal communication with patients, families, colleagues, and insurance carriers (i.e. WSIB and MVA case managers)
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.

Skills

  • Knowledge of the equipment and materials used in the provision of PT/OT treatments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone, data entry/computer systems skills and word processing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Environment (word, excel, outlook)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Krembil Discovery Tower (Toronto Western Hospital)

Experience Level

  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience

Education Level

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant certificate program

Salary/Compensations

  • $27.56 - $34.45 per hour
