About the Role
This internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate on award-winning financial literacy podcasts, including "This Is Uncomfortable" and "Million Bazillion." It's ideal for those pursuing a career in journalism and podcasting, providing hands-on experience in creating financial literacy programming with an emphasis on explainers and human-centered news. You will work with an experienced team, gain technical skills in audio production, and develop soft skills in communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with show producers to brainstorm, book, prep, edit tape, implement feedback, and fact-check for the "This Is UnComfortable" podcast.
- Collaborate with show producers to shape scripted episodes for the "Million Bazillion" podcast.
- Record interviews, cut tape, and perform sound design for audio production.
- Conduct research and fact-checking to ensure script accuracy and prep hosts.
- Collaborate with digital teams to create web and social media extensions for podcasts.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college or university, or graduated within the past 18 months.
- Available full-time (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday) throughout the internship duration.
- Some professional newsroom experience (e.g., college newspaper, radio station, magazine).
- Demonstrate interest or experience in financial literacy, the role of money in our lives, or the economy.
- Some experience with an audio platform.
