About the Role
The YMCA of Broome County is hiring a part-time Fitness Center Attendant to support members at our Johnson City fitness center. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about fitness, helping others, and fostering a welcoming gym environment. You will assist members with equipment, offer workout guidance, ensure facility safety and cleanliness, and motivate members in their health and fitness journeys.
Responsibilities
- Welcome members and create a friendly, positive fitness center experience.
- Engage, motivate, and encourage members toward their health and fitness goals.
- Provide basic workout guidance and assist members with safe and correct equipment usage.
- Demonstrate proper form and technique, and provide fitness equipment instruction.
- Monitor the fitness center and enforce YMCA safety policies and procedures.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workout environment.
- Support daily fitness center operations and provide excellent customer service.
- Opportunities may be available to teach group exercise classes on land or in the pool.
Requirements
- Passion for fitness, wellness, and helping people succeed.
- Strong knowledge of basic fitness principles, exercise technique, and fitness equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to connect with members of diverse ages and fitness levels.
- Dependable, friendly, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a gym, fitness center, wellness center, or similar environment is preferred.
