About the Role
This role offers a co-op opportunity to work alongside a mentor engineer, gaining hands-on experience in cloud operations, automation, and security. You will learn core cloud services, system administration, and professional development, with opportunities for certification and potential full-time employment.
Responsibilities
- Work a ticket queue including access requests, monitoring changes, and inventory/tagging clean-up.
- Perform scheduled health checks, patching, and backup verification.
- Analyze cloud cost and usage reports to identify potential savings.
- Develop and enhance runbooks and knowledge-base articles.
- Build automation scripts or dashboards to streamline manual tasks.
- Participate in incident response and migration support.
- Contribute to Terraform code under review.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, MIS).
- Completed at least one year of study with coursework in programming, networking, operating systems, or databases.
- Comfortable using the command line and willing to learn Linux.
- Clear written English communication skills.
- Dependable and detail-oriented with a focus on procedure and documentation.
- Willing to seek assistance when unsure about production systems.
