About the Role

This is a temporary, 8-month student position for the term January - August. Applicants must be students registered in a Canadian College or University, returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement for graduation. Preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.

Responsibilities

  • Drive consistency by establishing and maintaining technology risk management governance, framework, and processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in information security, operations, IT Resiliency, and technology delivery.
  • Support risk assessment activities, including managing the Issue Register and tracking remediation progress.
  • Assist in executing annual Business Continuity Planning (BCP) / Business Impact Analysis (BIA) activities and monitor DR activities.
  • Support the review and challenge of exceptions and risk acceptances.
  • Support risk reviews of key initiatives and projects.
  • Assist in preparing reports and metrics (KRIs, KPIs) for management and executive reporting.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Canada Life’s technology risk management strategy and operating model.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with policies and standards.
  • Support the Technology Risk & Control identification process.
  • Assist in providing a holistic view of technology risk across IWIS & AN Technology.
  • Foster and strengthen Canada Life’s overall technology risk posture.

Requirements

  • Applicants are required to submit both their resume and their most recent unofficial transcript.
  • Basic understanding/experience within technology risk and compliance.
  • Excellent business writing and communication skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to aggregate and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to build rapport with business teams and build consensus.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing projects and priorities under time pressure without compromising quality.
  • Ability to operate in an entrepreneurial environment: self-starter, results-oriented, highly motivated, and effective in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong understanding of technology risk.

  • $45,600 - $68,400 annually (for student positions, dependent on work terms completed and other factors)
