About the Role

CACI's Mastodon Design is hiring a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead our hardware engineering group in Rochester, NY. This group spans Power Supply, Digital, RF, along with General Support/Sustainment Engineering disciplines. You'll own the people side of the group — hiring, mentoring, and developing a multidisciplinary team — while partnering closely with engineering and business stakeholders to keep software development and test moving across our product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, mentor, and develop engineering technicians and professionals across the hardware team.
  • Set technical priorities and direction for hardware activities, including actively partnering with key stakeholders in Mechanical, Hardware, Systems Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Oversee sustaining engineering — obsolescence management, engineering change orders, and post-production support for fielded products.
  • Manage staffing and resource allocation across concurrent programs and product lines.
  • Partner with Project and Program Management, and Operations to align schedules, budgets, and deliverables with program needs.
  • Drive hardware design standards, design review processes, and continuous improvement across the group.
  • Partner with supply chain and procurement on component selection, vendor relationships, and long-lead item planning.
  • Support proposal efforts with hardware-focused technical write-ups, staffing plans, and basis of estimates (BoEs).
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical hardware issues spanning power, digital, RF, and communications disciplines.
  • Champion a strong safety, quality, and test culture across the hardware engineering team.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of hardware engineering experience, including experience leading or managing a team.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Management experience with direct reports.
  • Experience across one or more of: power supply design, digital hardware design, RF or communications hardware, or sustaining engineering.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers and technicians.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize a team's work across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Comfortable partnering with program management, systems engineering, and supply chain to keep hardware efforts on track.
