About the Role
The Food Service Specialist provides food and merchandising support to designated stores, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. This role involves creating detailed reports for management, managing quality control through preventative maintenance, and responding to calls as needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervise training and educating store teams on current and new product offerings, emphasizing Food Safety and Quality Assurance to meet FSQA and HACCP regulatory requirements.
- Supervise new store start-ups and remodels for Foodservice.
- Address issues in stores in real-time and provide immediate solutions during visits.
- Visit assigned stores on a set schedule to perform food safe-quality assurance monitoring.
- Conduct trouble-shooting seminars to instruct stores on fixing equipment and process issues.
- Act as a central contact for stores regarding food service categories, with discretionary decision-making power to solve issues.
- Collaborate with Category Managers, BU leadership, store leadership, Food Service vendors, and merchant experts to ensure training materials are effective, current, relevant, and compatible with Company policies.
- Coach and monitor under-performing stores for improvement.
- Partner with District Managers for their specific opportunities and needs.
- Oversee new food service projects based on BU initiatives.
- Maintain a database of all training sessions and visits.
- Develop and facilitate training sessions addressing training gaps and needs.
- Create a training environment that empowers people to find answers and solutions independently.
- Foster a cooperative learning environment with feedback to guide correct actions and share best practices.
- Lead training opportunities as needed.
- Work closely with stores' Management staff, Sales Associates, District Managers, and other internal departments related to the food service category.
- Assist with training as needed.
- Aid with new store start-ups and remodels.
- Review all food and beverage equipment, including warmers, roller grills, microwaves, sandwich cases, condiment stations, beverage machines, bakery cases, and coolers.
- Monitor temperature and time to Circle K standards.
- Notify appropriate personnel if non-compliance is found.
- Assess the cleanliness of all store areas, including food preparation areas, sinks, restrooms, security areas, storage areas, garbage, and sanitation areas.
- Verify correct signage and pricing in each location during store visits.
- Evaluate stocking and inventory supply of key food safety areas.
- Review store health requirements and address critical violations immediately.
- Assist with addressing issues and handling necessary improvements in each store.
- Complete detailed itemized reports summarizing store conditions, compile an overall score, and communicate results to management.
- Perform monthly preventative maintenance tasks, assist stores with reminders and resets.
- Calibrate various dispensing machines per schedule.
- Review signage and promotional material.
- Supervise special projects or other duties as assigned.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Travel up to 80% in the local market, including frequent travel in Southwestern Ontario.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Secondary education preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of Food service industry experience.
- Ability to influence and build relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and insurable as a driver.
