About the Role

BRC staff help New Yorkers experiencing homelessness reclaim their lives by providing a hand up, offering opportunities for health and self-sufficiency, and restoring hope and dignity. Each and every BRC staff member makes heroic contributions to our city, providing vital services in times of crisis and need.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned caseload, including client meetings and maintaining clinical files.
  • Conduct weekly client room visits, deliver notices, and perform room inspections.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction Strategies to support clients through program progression.
  • Assist clients with securing entitlements, completing housing applications, and arranging housing appointments.
  • Develop clients' daily living skills for independent living.
  • Escort clients to appointments as needed.
  • Liaise with clinical staff at BRC and external programs.
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Significant experience working with the homeless and formerly incarcerated.
  • Experience with substance abuse, entitlements, and the housing application process.
  • Good writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high stress/volume environment.
  • Ability to maintain communication with the treatment team.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • CPR training certification or willingness to complete training.
