About the Role
The Independent Living Specialist is responsible for assisting tenants in maintaining housing stability through applications, referrals to community resources, and supportive counseling. This role involves regular apartment visits to ensure a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with applications and re-certification for entitlements
- Providing linkages and referrals to community resources (vocational, medical, mental health, substance abuse)
- Providing supportive counseling
- Making regular visits to tenant apartments to ensure a safe and secure environment
Requirements
- HS diploma/GED required
- At least three years relevant experience required
- Experience working with the substance abuse and/or mentally ill population required
- Basic computer literacy required
- Willingness to take training class in CPR
Skills
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
- CPR training certification
