About the Role
Health Center Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Patient Care Clerk for its Harlem location. This role provides clerical and support services in the pharmacy, handling prescriptions, customer service, and medication dispensing support. The candidate will follow organizational guidelines to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Responsibilities
- Greet Members arriving at the pharmacy in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
- Utilize knowledge of organizational guidelines and eligibility rules when assisting patients.
- Attempt to resolve Member concerns and escalate them when appropriate.
- Package filled orders, attach appropriate prescription packaging, verify Member identity, operate the pharmacy cash register/Point of Sales system, and complete transactions.
- Accurately enter data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Take stock inventory, note levels, and identify items that are running low or close to expiration.
- Direct Members to the counsel window for pharmacist consultation.
- Perform additional pharmacy services under the direct supervision of licensed pharmaceutical staff.
- Follow and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health Center policies and procedures relevant to the job function.
- Perform additional job-related clerical duties, such as answering phones, copying, data entry, and scanning, as needed.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA and governmental/state agency requirements regarding PHI handling.
- Represent the Health Center to patients in a professional manner.
- Contribute to team effort.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related work experience as a pharmacy cashier or technician.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient typing skills.
- Strong ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with peers.
- Detail-oriented.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Creole, Polish, Russian).
