About the Role

As a Dishwasher for American Cruise Lines, you will work in our shipboard galley to ensure the proper sanitation of all pieces needed to provide an outstanding dining experience. This is a temporary position where you will work onboard for 28 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the galley including cutlery, glassware, dishes, and surrounding areas.
  • Receive and carry food deliveries which require lifting boxes that weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Ensure that the commercial dishwasher is operating properly and efficiently, reporting any maintenance issues to management.
  • Creating genuine rapport with our guests and catering to all galley requests in an efficient manner.
  • May be required to perform other functions, such as greeting guests upon embarkation, and providing assistance during special events including afternoon teas and snacks and participate in evening entertainment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be an American citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test, including for Marijuana and other controlled substances.
  • Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited.
  • All shipboard employees have emergency and safety functions essential to the safe operation of the ship.
  • Must adhere to grooming standards that include limitations on visible tattoos and piercings.
  • Ability to work under pressure, keep composure, and maintain a positive attitude.

Skills

  • Ability to work around 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to assist in the event of an on-board emergency by quickly climbing up a ladder, opening, and passing through a 20” diameter hatch.
  • Ability to stand for your entire shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat and reach.
  • Ability to live and work on board a vessel for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use stairs frequently.
