About the Role

Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in assigned medical practice or practices. Assures that the patient and examination area is properly prepared.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients from the waiting room to the clinical area, ensuring proper identification.
  • Performs clinical intake activities and documents patient information.
  • Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographic, medication, social, and medical history.
  • Provides clerical and secretarial support for patient care, including preparing charts and completing paperwork.
  • Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation.
  • Ensures examination areas are clean and stocked after each patient use and performs environmental rounds.
  • Prepares patients for visits by assisting with gowns, paperwork, supplies, and educational materials.
  • Conducts in-office testing as directed by the clinician and coordinates external services.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes specimens as directed, logging results and reconciling them in patient records.
  • Contacts patients for follow-up, test results, or clinician instructions.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
  • Assists in training new staff.
  • Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
  • Fulfills all compliance responsibilities.
  • Maintains and models organizational values.
  • Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • 1 Full Year of MA experience OR MA or EMT certification OR 3 full years of relevant healthcare experience including vitals, blood, rooming and patient care.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation to cover locations as needed.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • BLS Certification is required within 30 days.
  • Ability to travel between practices as needed.

Skills

  • Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
  • Data entry.
  • Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
