About the Role
Assist the cook in food preparation in accordance with Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure quality food service.
Responsibilities
- Review menus prior to food preparation.
- Pre-prepare meat, vegetables, etc., according to the planned menu.
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
- Prepare food for chopped and puree diets.
- Ensure food temperatures are within guidelines before service.
- Time food preparation to meet service schedules.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with department personnel and other facility departments.
- Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment within the department.
- Attend and participate in mandatory facility and departmental in-services.
- Participate in programs mandated by the New York State Department of Health or the Governor.
- Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies.
- Follow all safety regulations.
- Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precaution policies and procedures.
- Ensure work area is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
- Report hazardous conditions/equipment to the Chef/Manager immediately.
- Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner.
- Date all food items stored.
- Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.
