About the Role
Peregrine is seeking a founding Product Marketer for its Federal market, reporting to the VP of Product Marketing. This full-stack role involves building the federal marketing foundation from scratch, including positioning, embedded work with capture and pre-sales, and early campaign testing within live pursuits.
Responsibilities
- Own federal positioning and messaging, translating proven state and local law enforcement work for federal missions and articulating how trust is earned (auditability, access controls, accountable AI).
- Run discovery in unproven segments, including win-loss analysis, buyer research, and messaging hypothesis testing through live pursuits.
- Feed product marketing messaging into the capture-led win strategy for pursuits, including positioning, competitive counters, and validating claims.
- Build pre-solicitation content to influence acquisitions at scale, such as capability briefings, mission white papers, and industry day materials.
- Equip pre-sales teams with first-call narratives, demo storylines, and objection handling.
- Partner with the growth team to deliver early test campaigns, defining segments, engaging external partners and events, and producing market-facing assets.
- Package deployment proof into federal-ready evidence, including case studies, references, and outcome data cleared for public use.
- Incorporate learnings from pursuits and campaigns back into positioning and product strategy.
- Build a marketing motion from the ground up.
- Go directly to the source: program offices, contracting officers, agents, and analysts in the field.
- Form a point of view from limited data and revise it based on evidence.
- State only proven claims, even during pursuits.
- Be present in the room: onsite in DC, at industry days, and alongside capture and pre-sales teams.
- Understand the concrete mission, including specific agencies, people, and problems to be solved.
Requirements
- Authorship that changed an outcome (e.g., a positioning document that influenced a deal, requirement, or executive decision).
- Working knowledge of the federal procurement lifecycle and compliance frameworks.
- 7+ years in product marketing or adjacent go-to-market roles.
- 3+ years marketing or selling technology to the US federal government.
- Proficiency across the full product marketing stack: positioning, pursuit support, enablement, and campaign execution.
- Comfort treating an unmapped segment as a research problem with a deadline.
- Judgment on when a claim is proven versus promising, developed through collaboration with technical field teams.
- Ability to operate across technical depth for program offices and plain language for public surfaces.
- Ability to make the federal case independently in program office briefings, articulating the value proposition in buyer's terms and handling pushback.
- Capture and pre-sales teams actively utilize your positioning and language.
- Positioning is established before solicitations are released, reflected in win strategy documents and requirement language.
- Adjacent-segment discovery leads to clear decisions based on win-loss and buyer research.
- Federal claims withstand contracting, legal, and security reviews.
- Deployment proof is federal-ready and utilized by pre-sales without extensive legal review.
- Capture and pre-sales engage you early in pursuits.
- State and local teams grant access to their deployment proof.
